Qualifications
Alan Earnshaw was elected to the East Penn School Board in November 2001 and was re-elected in 2005, 2009, and 2013. He is the current President of the board, serving in that capacity for nearly six years, and served as Vice President for six years. He has served as one of the board's four representatives on the Joint Operating Committee of Lehigh Career & Technical Institute (LCTI) since December 2007, serving as the Chair and Vice Chair for two years in each position.
 
  • Commitment: Father of three graduates of Emmaus High School and one current student. He is thoroughly committed to providing a thorough, fiscally responsible education for every child within the district, preparing them for college, work, or military service.
     
  • Experience: With nearly 16 years of school board experience, Alan understands the issues and is able to balance the competing interests of all East Penn stakeholders.
     
  • Knowledge: Alan has extensive knowledge of district operations, school law, board policies, and parliamentary procedure. He puts that knowledge to work in every board meeting.
     
  • Dedication: Alan has attended over 275 board meetings, 80 LCTI Joint Operating Committee meetings, dozens of union negotiation sessions, training sessions, and more. He spends about 20 hours per month preparing for and attending meetings. His hours of service and sacrifice demonstrate his dedication to public education in East Penn.
